Radnor Fire Company crews extinguished an oven fire at a residence in the 400 block of Conestoga Road on Wednesday, Aug. 26, after encountering heavy smoke inside the home. No one was hurt.
Three fire companies were initially dispatched just before 11:30 a.m. for a reported building fire at the address, according to a Radnor Fire Company incident report. Radnor Fire Company, Berwyn Fire Company and Bryn Mawr Fire Company all received the call.
Radnor's Engine 15, Chief 15 and Quint 15 arrived on scene within five minutes of dispatch. Firefighters found smoke showing from the residence as they pulled up.
Engine 15's crew stretched a 1¾-inch hose line to the front door of the home while Quint 15 raised its main ladder to the roof. Chief 15 established "Conestoga Command" at the scene.
Inside, the Engine 15 crew encountered heavy smoke throughout the house. They quickly located the fire in the oven and extinguished it. With the fire knocked down, Berwyn and Bryn Mawr companies were recalled from the scene.
Radnor crews then physically removed the oven from the residence. They used positive pressure ventilation to push the remaining smoke out of the home. The entire call lasted about 45 minutes from dispatch to clear.
No injuries were reported, according to the fire company. The incident report did not indicate a cause for the oven fire or provide a damage estimate.
