Radnor Township commissioners will vote Monday on more than $87,000 in police equipment upgrades, including a replacement explosives-detection K9 and six new in-car computer tablets for patrol officers.

The four resolutions on the Aug. 17 Board of Commissioners agenda represent the latest round of investment in the Radnor Township Police Department, led by Superintendent Christopher B. Flanagan. The board has already approved three new hybrid Ford Explorers and a Ford Expedition for the department this year.

The biggest-ticket item: six Getac Mobile Data Terminal tablets at $44,869, purchased through PMC Wireless under Pennsylvania's COSTARS cooperative-purchasing program. The funds would come from the township's 2026 Capital Improvement Fund. Five existing MDT computers currently in service would then be moved to other patrol vehicles to replace outdated units, extending the upgrade's reach beyond the six cars getting new hardware.

A replacement patrol K9 trained in explosives detection would cost $19,600, filling the gap left by a recently retired dog. The agenda does not name the retiring K9 or identify the vendor supplying the new animal.

Commissioners will also consider a $14,250 Investigative Digital Evidence Workstation from Valeo Networks and an $8,423 renewal of the township's Onsolve Crisis24 mass-notification system, which delivers emergency alerts to residents via voice calls, text messages and email. The Crisis24 platform, formerly known as CodeRED, was temporarily taken offline after a cyberattack in late 2025 that compromised user data including names, addresses and phone numbers. The rebuilt system is what Radnor would be renewing.

The K9 and digital evidence workstation appear on the consent agenda, meaning they could pass without individual discussion. The MDT tablet purchase is listed on the business agenda, requiring a separate vote.

The total package comes to $87,142. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Radnorshire Room.
