Radnor Fire Company crews spent more than two hours fighting a fully involved house fire on Radcliff Road in Tredyffrin Township on the night of Monday, Aug. 10, before returning to their Wayne station well after midnight.

The company was dispatched shortly after 10 p.m. to assist Berwyn Fire Company at the scene, according to an incident report posted by the company. While RFC units were still en route, Tredyffrin Police Department officers arrived and reported fire showing from the residence.

RFC's Chief 15 pulled up directly behind Berwyn's Safety 2 unit and found a split-level home well involved in flames. Dispatch records from 1st Responder News logged the call at 10:36 p.m. at 227 Radcliff Road, with Berwyn requesting a working fire box after confirming fire showing from the two-story dwelling.

RFC and Berwyn crews worked together in a two-phase operation, first knocking down the exterior fire and then pushing inside for an interior attack. Additional mutual-aid companies arrived to assist, though the RFC report did not name them.

No injuries were reported.

Crews were released from the scene shortly after midnight. Once back at the station on South Wayne Avenue, firefighters spent another hour cleaning equipment and returning apparatus to service.

Radnor Fire Company, based at 121 S. Wayne Ave. in Wayne, is led by Chief Joseph Maguire and serves as the primary fire and EMS provider for the "Panhandle" section of Tredyffrin Township in Chester County, in addition to covering the largest fire district in Radnor Township, Delaware County. The cross-county mutual-aid relationship means Wayne-based crews regularly respond to calls in the Berwyn area.

The volunteer company operates multiple engines, a 100-foot ladder truck, ambulances and support vehicles from its Wayne station.
