The Radnor Fire Company will host its annual Fire Prevention Expo on Oct. 10, bringing helicopter landings, live fire demonstrations and antique fire truck rides to downtown Wayne at no cost.
The free event runs from 2 to 5 p.m. at the firehouse, 121 S. Wayne Ave. It is open to the public.
The all-volunteer company, founded in 1906, describes the gathering as its famous annual expo in the event announcement. The lineup includes vehicle rescue and house fire demonstrations, hands-on fire extinguisher training, helicopter landings with aircraft tours, police and fire vehicle tours, face painting, giveaways for kids and free fire prevention kits.
Local police will bring department vehicles alongside fire apparatus, and residents can climb aboard antique fire trucks for rides around the station grounds.
RFC protects the largest fire district in Radnor Township, Delaware County, and its ambulance service covers the entire township. The company also serves as the primary fire and EMS provider for the Panhandle area of Tredyffrin Township in Chester County and actively recruits volunteers with no prior experience required.
