Radnor Memorial Library's fall book sale runs Oct. 16–18 in the library's lower level at 114 W. Wayne Ave. in Wayne, with a half-price finale on the closing day.
The Friends of the Radnor Memorial Library, a volunteer group active since 1958, organizes the sale twice a year. Used books, DVDs, puzzles, CDs and LPs for all ages will be available. All proceeds go to the library, according to the township's event listing.
The three-day schedule:
- Oct. 16, 5–8 p.m.: Members-only preview
- Oct. 17, 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m.: Open to the public
- Oct. 18, 1–4:30 p.m.: 50% off sale
The Oct. 16 preview is open to anyone with a Friends membership. An individual membership costs $25 and allows up to 25 books at the preview sale. A family membership is $50 (up to 50 books), a contributor membership is $100 (up to 100 books) and a patron membership runs $200 with unlimited books, according to the Friends of the Radnor Library website.
Oct. 17 and Oct. 18 are open to the public.
Joyce Platfoot, executive director of Radnor Memorial Library, said in a Sept. 11 Main Line Today preview that "money raised by the Friends of the Library Book Sales has a huge impact!" Platfoot said the funds have helped the library buy new books, run programs for all ages and upgrade equipment.
"People bring their families," Friends board member Pepe Garcia said in the same Sept. 11 preview. "It really is a community affair."
The library is a 501(c)(3) organization and part of the Delaware County Library System. It is open seven days a week.
Beyond the twice-a-year sales, the Friends stock a year-round book sale just inside the library's front door. Residents who want to donate books for future sales can drop them off on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Donations are not accepted during May or October, when the group is preparing for its sales.
Membership details and sale information are available at radnorlibrary.org/friends.
