Radnor's girls varsity volleyball team lost 3-1 at Penncrest on Monday, Sept. 28, ending a two-game winning streak and dropping the Raptors below .500.
The defeat at Penncrest High School in Media was a non-conference match, with set scores of 25-22, 24-26, 25-21 and 25-16, according to MaxPreps. Radnor grabbed the second set 26-24 but could not carry that momentum forward. The Lions pulled away in the fourth set, outscoring the Raptors 25-16 to close it out.
The loss drops coach V. Cruciani's squad to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in Central League play, placing them sixth in the conference. Radnor is 1-3 on the road this season. Their lone away win came Sept. 16 at Harriton in a 3-1 decision.
Penncrest, meanwhile, improved to 9-3. The Lions entered the match riding four consecutive wins and have now beaten Radnor eight straight times, per MaxPreps.
The Raptors opened the 2026 season with two losses. Gwynedd Mercy Academy swept them 3-0 on Sept. 2, and Conestoga took a five-set battle 3-2 on Sept. 9. Radnor then found its footing, beating Harriton on Sept. 16 and Strath Haven on Sept. 23, both by 3-1 scores. The Penncrest result erases that progress and sends the Raptors into a two-week gap before their next match.
Radnor is 1-0 at home this season.
The Raptors return to action Oct. 12 at home against Ridley at 5:15 p.m. in a Central League matchup, then host Upper Merion Area on Oct. 16 at 5 p.m.
