Radnor's girls varsity volleyball team swept Upper Darby 3-0 on Friday, Oct. 9, the third straight win for a squad that opened the season with back-to-back losses.

The victory caps a strong week for the Raptors. Radnor beat Great Valley 3-1 on Monday, Oct. 5, then knocked off Garnet Valley 3-2 on Thursday, Oct. 8, in a five-set Central League match before handling Upper Darby without dropping a set, according to the Radnor High School athletics site.

The Garnet Valley win may have been the week's signature result. The Daily Times reported that Radnor took the first set 25-19, lost the second 23-25, dominated the third 25-11, dropped the fourth 21-25 and pulled away 15-11 in the deciding fifth set. The Daily Times described Garnet Valley as a "perennial league power" in the Central League, making the comeback a statement win for Radnor.

Upper Darby, meanwhile, enters Monday's rematch on shaky ground. Ridley swept the Royals 3-0 on Thursday, Oct. 8, with set scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-18, per the Daily Times.

The three-match run follows a bumpy September. Radnor lost its opener to Gwynedd Mercy Academy 3-0 on Sept. 2 and fell to Conestoga 3-2 on Sept. 9, according to MaxPreps. The Raptors then beat Harriton 3-1 on Sept. 16 and Strath Haven 3-1 on Sept. 23 before a 3-1 loss to Penncrest on Sept. 28 dropped them to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Central League.

Three wins since have pushed Radnor to 5-3 overall based on confirmed results. The conference record has improved as well, with the Garnet Valley and Upper Darby victories both counting as league matches.

The turnaround has been fast. A team sitting at 2-3 less than two weeks ago now carries momentum into the second half of October.

Radnor hosts Upper Darby again on Monday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m., per the school athletics site.
