Wayne Art Center draws more than 35,000 visitors a year, offers 500 classes and workshops, and teaches nearly 6,000 students, according to figures shared during a visit by state Sen. Amanda Cappelletti published Sunday, Aug. 16.
Cappelletti featured the Maplewood Avenue nonprofit in her recurring "Spotlight in the 17th" series, which highlights organizations across Pennsylvania Senate District 17. The district covers parts of Montgomery and Delaware counties, including the Wayne area.
During the visit, Cappelletti sat down for a recorded conversation with Executive Director and Chief Curator Nancy Campbell. The senator called the center one of the greatest gems in the arts across District 17 in a post on her official website.
The numbers back that up. The center, at 413 Maplewood Ave., runs programming that spans visual arts, music education, culinary arts, youth and teen classes, summer camp and private instruction. It also organizes annual events including CraftForms, the Wayne Plein Air Festival and Art Quilt Elements.
Campbell, who leads the center's programming and curation, walked Cappelletti through its community reach. No transcript of their conversation has been published.

Wayne Art Center posted its fall adult workshop lineup on Instagram, with registration available at wayneart.org. Upcoming sessions include:
- Shibori and Indigo Dyeing for Beginners with Sue Fox Mitrano, Sept. 19, 12:30–4 p.m. ($120 members, $135 non-members)
- Plein air landscape painting with Marc Anderson, Sept. 26–27, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. ($375 members, $425 non-members)
- Still life workshop with Peter Van Dyck, Sept. 26–27, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. ($345 members, $395 non-members)
