Haverford Township police made eight arrests and issued 165 citations during the week of Aug. 5–11, according to the department's weekly blotter released under Chief John Viola and updated Aug. 17.
The most serious charges came Saturday, Aug. 8, when a 50-year-old Ardmore man was arrested at 8:09 p.m. on the 100 block of East Golf View Road on charges of contempt for violation, terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct.
Two days later, on Monday, Aug. 10, officers arrested two Philadelphia women at Township Line and Burmont Roads at 2:03 p.m. A 34-year-old from the 2500 block of New Kirk Street faced charges of simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A 36-year-old from the 5700 block of Cedar Avenue was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Merion Golf Club targeted
The general manager of Merion Golf Club on the 400 block of Ardmore Avenue reported Friday, Aug. 7, at 6:28 a.m. that someone attempted to break into the Pro Shop. Police classified the incident as a burglary attempt. The blotter did not include a suspect description.
The club has seen repeated vandalism this year. According to earlier 2026 police blotters, footprints and alcohol cans were found on the 5th green in June, and in April someone sprayed weed killer on course property and carved initials into the 12th hole putting green.
Vehicle theft, fraud
A motor vehicle theft was reported Thursday, Aug. 6, at 8:06 a.m. on the 100 block of Rodney Circle.
Three fraud cases hit the township that week. On Aug. 5, a resident on the 300 block of Twin Oaks Drive received a pop-up message on her iPhone claiming she had been hacked. The caller told her that her accounts were flagged because someone used them to purchase child pornography and a vehicle, then instructed her to send photos of her financial statements. She complied before recognizing the scam.
On Aug. 10, a resident on the 2700 block of Oakford Road reported that $2,500 was transferred from her bank account into an unknown account without her permission. On Aug. 11, a resident on Jacalyn Drive lost $550 after paying via Zelle for a camera listed on Facebook Marketplace; the seller deleted his account after receiving the funds.
Retail theft and citations
Retail theft arrests included a 31-year-old East Lansdowne woman charged Friday, Aug. 7, at Kohl's on the 200 block of West Chester Pike, a 39-year-old Coatesville woman charged Monday, Aug. 10, at Acme on the 1300 block of West Chester Pike, and two Lansdowne women, ages 35 and 29, arrested together Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Giant on the 100 block of West Township Line Road. Two juveniles also stole $28.33 in merchandise from Wawa on the 1000 block of Darby Road on Aug. 10.
Of the 165 citations issued, 91 were for moving violations, 36 for parking, 33 warnings and five for non-traffic offenses.
