Radnor boys varsity soccer shut out Norristown Area 3-0 at home Monday, Oct. 12, adding another clean sheet to a season defined by stingy defense.
The non-conference win was posted on the Radnor athletics department website. Goal scorers were not listed in the game summary.
The Raptors have not lost since a 1-0 defeat at Penncrest on Sept. 17. Since that game, Radnor has reeled off a string of victories that includes a 2-0 win at Owen J. Roberts, a 4-1 win at Springfield, a 5-0 win over Marple Newtown and a 3-0 win over Garnet Valley in Central League play, according to MaxPreps.
As we reported Oct. 5, the Raptors carried a six-game winning streak into that week after a 5-0 win over Upper Darby on Friday, Oct. 2. Radnor outscored opponents 19-0 over five games during that stretch. A 2-1 win over Downingtown West on Oct. 5 and Monday's three-goal performance against Norristown have kept the run going.
Defense has been the headline all fall. Through Oct. 1, MaxPreps listed Radnor with 23 goals scored and just three allowed across nine games. Two scoreless draws against Lansdale Catholic on Sept. 4 and Strath Haven on Sept. 8 are the only other blemishes on the record besides the Penncrest loss.
In the Central League, Radnor sat fourth at 3-1-1 in conference play as of the Oct. 12 standings page on MaxPreps. Monday's game did not affect the conference record because Norristown is not a league member. The top two teams in the Central League held records of 7-0-1 and 6-0-2 in conference play.
Statewide, MaxPreps ranked Radnor No. 21 in Pennsylvania's Class AAA division and No. 82 overall as of Oct. 8.
