Radnor Township residents will bring at least seven traffic safety requests to the Staff Traffic Committee on Wednesday, including a crosswalk light system on East Lancaster Avenue and fire-safety concerns about parking on a residential court.
The meeting, scheduled for 10 a.m. in the Roll Call Room at the Radnor Township Police Department, 301 Iven Avenue, Wayne, includes at least seven new and returning items, according to the agenda published Monday by Police Superintendent Christopher B. Flanagan.
Lancaster Avenue and Chamounix Road
Barbara Fitzgerald-Turner is asking the committee for a crosswalk light system at Chamounix Road and East Lancaster Avenue and for speed humps on Chamounix Road. The requests come as the township continues installing an AI-powered adaptive traffic signal system along Lancaster Avenue. Township Engineer Stephen F. Norcini has said traditional fixes like adding lanes are difficult in the corridor; the adaptive system, which uses cameras and sensors to adjust green-light timing in real time, now covers 14 intersections after a second phase of expansion.
The Board of Commissioners approved a $36,152 change order for that Lancaster Avenue project in April, funding repairs to wiring near Sproul Road, Spring Mill Road, Aldwyn Lane and Kenilworth Road.
Other new requests
Nina Tierney will raise traffic concerns at Aldwyn Lane and Lancaster Avenue.
George Marks is bringing fire and safety concerns about parking on Cambria Court. Mike Swarr wants to address a protruding curb hazard on West Wayne Avenue and is requesting no-parking pavement markings at the opening of Wicklow Court. Sarah Mercury is requesting a handicap parking space on the 200 block of Highland Avenue, and Hahns Moleman is asking for a "No Parking Here to Corner" sign at Valley Forge Road and Sugartown Road.
What happens next
The committee's recommendations go to Township Manager William M. White and Township Engineer Norcini, and its minutes are forwarded to the Board of Commissioners as part of the consent agenda. The board meets once per month during the summer; its July meeting date has not yet been posted on the township's Granicus calendar. Residents can check radnor.com for updates or attend the Staff Traffic Committee meeting, which is open to the public on the third Wednesday of each month.
