Villanova softball added a record-setting base stealer to its 2026-27 roster on Monday, when sophomore outfielder Julia Sullo committed to the Wildcats as a transfer from Washington University in St. Louis.
Sullo, a 5-foot-9 left-handed hitter from Houston, Texas, set a University Athletic Association single-season record with 50 stolen bases during her lone year with the Division III Bears. She batted .464, a WashU program best, and tallied 58 hits and scored a team-high 41 runs in 38 games.
The numbers earned her UAA Rookie of the Year honors, a First Team All-UAA selection and an NFCA Second Team All-Region nod, according to the Villanova athletics department. WashU finished 30-7-1 and won a second consecutive UAA championship, the program's first back-to-back titles since 2014-15. The Bears were ranked No. 7 nationally in Division III.
Sullo joins seven incoming freshmen to form an eight-member newcomer class on the Main Line. The Wildcats are retooling after a 14-39 season in 2026 (8-16 Big East), a sharp drop from their 27-26-1 mark in 2025.
Before college, Sullo was a four-year varsity outfielder at St. Agnes Academy in Houston, where she earned two District MVP awards and helped her team win the 2024 Texas state championship. She was also a four-year academic all-state honoree.
