Eighteen Villanova University tennis players earned individual academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday while both the men's and women's programs were recognized as All-Academic Teams for the 2025-26 school year.

The men's program picked up its fifth consecutive and seventh overall All-Academic Team award. The women's team earned the honor for the fourth straight year and set a program record with 10 players named ITA Scholar-Athletes, according to Villanova Athletics.

Two seniors stood out. Emi Callahan and Savie Seebald each earned the Scholar-Athlete distinction all four years of their college careers. Seebald, who graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in political science and history, was also named a 2026-27 Fulbright U.S. Student Grant recipient and will serve as an English Teaching Assistant in Thailand.

The ITA All-Academic Team award goes to programs that maintain a team GPA above 3.2. The individual Scholar-Athlete honor requires a GPA of at least 3.50 on a 4.0 scale.

The women's honorees are Callahan, Riley Cicero, Olivia Corcoran, Maggie Gehrig, Miriam Gondorova, Maddie Hills, Alina Kornyeva, Lauren Monti, Seebald and Jenna Stevens. Five of them, Cicero, Corcoran, Hills, Kornyeva and Monti, earned the honor for the first time.

On the men's side, eight Wildcats were recognized: Ryan Benoit and Ethan Solop (first career honor), Kush Anand, Evan Ancu, Quincy Jones and Jack Sherner (back-to-back honors) and Will Monahan and Thomas Wakefield (third career honor each).

The academic awards cap a transitional year for the men's program. The team finished 5-16 overall and 0-4 in Big East play under former head coach Brad Adams, who told The Villanovan after a first-round conference tournament loss to St. John's on Friday, April 17, that the 2025-26 campaign was "a development year for sure."

Villanova named Eduardo Ugalde as the new men's head coach on July 6. Ugalde spent the previous two years as interim head coach at Yale, where he guided the Bulldogs to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1977. Athletics Director Eric Roedl said Ugalde has demonstrated "an outstanding ability to develop student-athletes, build winning programs and lead with integrity."

Both tennis programs will begin the 2026-27 season when student-athletes report to the Radnor Township campus in late August.
