Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity is the Republican nominee for governor in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election, running with lieutenant governor nominee Jason Richey.

The official general election ballot listing shows three joint tickets for governor and lieutenant governor: Democrats Josh Shapiro and Austin Davis, Republicans Stacy Garrity and Jason Richey, and Libertarians Ken Krawchuk and John Thomas. Voters cast one vote for both offices. A Commonwealth Court order filed Aug. 21 removed Green Party nominees Tony Dastra and Craig Bolton from the ballot.

Experience and education

According to her official Treasury biography, Garrity graduated from Sayre High School, earned a finance and economics degree from Bloomsburg University and received a business management certificate from Cornell.

She began her first term as treasurer in January 2021 and was reelected in 2024. Before public office, she worked as a cost accountant and rose to vice president at Global Tungsten & Powders in Towanda.

Garrity retired from the Army Reserve as a colonel. Her official biography lists deployments in 1991, 2003 and 2008 and awards including two Bronze Stars and the Legion of Merit. It also lists service on the Bradford County United Way board and as a trustee of Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital.

Policy priorities

Her joint campaign platform with Richey calls for more natural gas production and faster permitting for pipelines and power plants. The campaign proposes rolling back the gross receipts tax on utilities and other costs on electricity bills.

The platform’s HOPE for PA proposal would redirect existing state spending, investment accounts and interest earnings toward homeowner property tax rebates. It also calls for agency audits to identify waste and fraud, with savings directed toward deficit reduction and tax relief.

On education, Garrity supports Lifeline Scholarships and expansion of the Education Improvement Tax Credit and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit programs.

WHYY’s October voter guide reports that Garrity identifies as pro-life but says she would not support an abortion ban and would respect Pennsylvania’s current law. The guide also reports President Donald Trump’s endorsement.

Campaign proposals are attributed to Garrity; projected savings and economic benefits are not guaranteed outcomes.
